Citywide Ban Imposed to Maintain Order Before Eid ul Adha
The Commissioner of Karachi has announced the enforcement of Section 144 across the city for one month, targeting the unauthorized setup of cattle markets and roadside animal sales in the lead-up to Eid ul Adha. The measure aims to maintain public order, reduce congestion, and improve sanitation as the city prepares for a high influx of sacrificial animals.
Only Official Cattle Markets Allowed
Under the directive, the sale and purchase of sacrificial animals are strictly prohibited outside officially designated cattle markets. The administrations of Karachi’s seven districts have approved 14 legal sites where traders may operate within the law.
Strict Action Against Violators
Authorities have been ordered to take firm action against any violations, including unlicensed cattle trading and informal roadside animal stalls. The Commissioner stressed that such enforcement is essential to prevent illegal encroachments, traffic blockages, and public health hazards during the festival period.
Focus on Public Safety and Cleanliness
In addition to banning unauthorized markets, operators of the approved cattle markets have been instructed to implement proper sanitation, parking, and security arrangements. These efforts aim to create a safe, hygienic, and organized environment for both buyers and sellers.
Efforts to Ensure a Smooth Pre-Eid Experience
As Karachi braces for its annual surge in livestock trade, the enforcement of Section 144 reflects the city administration’s commitment to managing urban space effectively and ensuring the smooth movement of traffic and people. Officials have called on the public and traders to cooperate fully with the new regulations to ensure a peaceful and well-regulated Eid season.
