Karachi, Pakistan — In a significant move to enhance Pakistan’s local manufacturing sector, Chinese investors have announced plans to establish a Super Mini Truck assembly facility in Karachi. The initiative, unveiled by Sindh’s Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon during a ceremony in Bozhou, China, marks a new chapter in China-Pakistan industrial cooperation.
The project was announced during the launch event of the Super Mini Truck, an innovative light commercial vehicle developed jointly by Chery Holding and Peddy Technology Company Limited. According to Memon, the plant will not only bolster Pakistan’s automotive production capabilities but also support small businesses and individuals through access to affordable, locally-assembled vehicles.
Advancing Local Industry Through Strategic Partnerships
The planned assembly plant is set to drive local industrial growth by encouraging parts manufacturing, job creation, and the transfer of advanced automotive technology from China to Pakistan. Minister Memon emphasized that the Sindh government will extend full support to ensure the project’s success, offering assistance in infrastructure, regulations, and workforce development.
“This initiative is more than just a manufacturing project—it’s a strategic step forward in building a strong, self-reliant industrial base in Karachi and beyond,” Memon stated.
A Versatile and Eco-Friendly Vehicle for Modern Needs
The Super Mini Truck has been designed as a flexible, modern transport solution tailored for both urban and rural environments. What sets it apart is its transformable design, allowing it to convert into a super mini car, making it ideal for a variety of logistical and transport needs.
Highlighting its environmental credentials, Memon described the vehicle as “eco-friendly, cost-effective, and efficient,” positioning it as an ideal option for meeting the increasing demand for light commercial transport in Pakistan.
Future Plans Include EV Charging Infrastructure
As part of the broader push for sustainable transport solutions, Memon also revealed plans to install electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across Sindh. This move aligns with global trends and reflects Pakistan’s growing commitment to cleaner transportation alternatives.
Strengthening China-Pakistan Industrial Ties
The Super Mini Truck project represents another milestone in the deepening economic relationship between China and Pakistan. It reinforces the spirit of collaboration under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and supports Pakistan’s aspirations for a more diversified, technology-driven economy.
With the launch of the assembly plant, Karachi is poised to emerge as a regional hub for automotive manufacturing, further solidifying Pakistan’s position in the global industrial landscape.
