Qualcomm is gearing up for a major launch event scheduled for late September 2025, where it’s expected to unveil the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset, identified by the model number SM8850. Alongside this flagship release, another chip, internally labeled SM8845, is reportedly in development and set for release later in the year. While slightly below the Elite 2 in performance, it surpasses the Snapdragon 8s Gen 5, prompting speculation that it may debut as the Snapdragon 8 Plus.

The SM8845 is designed to deliver performance on par with the original Snapdragon 8 Elite, using an all-big-core CPU layout built with Qualcomm’s custom cores. However, it comes with modest improvements, such as being built on a more advanced manufacturing process and borrowing certain peripherals from the Elite 2 model.

These enhancements are aimed at improving energy efficiency and hardware compatibility without significantly raising power consumption. According to reliable source Digital Chat Station, major smartphone brands like Oppo, OnePlus, and Vivo are expected to integrate this chip into their upcoming models.

Notably, many of these phones might feature ultra-large batteries—potentially reaching 8,000 mAh—offering extended battery life. This chipset is positioned to become a popular choice for “flagship killer” devices, delivering a strong balance between high performance and competitive pricing.
