Alcohol Level Three Times the Limit
A British backpacker has admitted to causing the death of a man in Perth, Australia, while riding an e-scooter intoxicated.
Alicia Kemp, 25, from Redditch, Worcestershire, had been drinking heavily on the afternoon of the incident in May. She and a friend were ejected from a bar for drunkenness before later hiring an e-scooter.

Court proceedings revealed that Kemp was travelling at 20–25 km/h (12–15 mph) when she struck 51-year-old Thanh Phan from behind on a city pavement.
Mr Phan, a father of two, hit his head on the ground and suffered a brain bleed. He died in hospital two days later.
Passenger Also Injured
Kemp’s passenger — the friend she had been drinking with — sustained a fractured skull and broken nose in the crash. Her injuries were serious but not life-threatening.
Court Proceedings and Possible Sentence
Appearing via video link at Perth Magistrates Court on Monday, Kemp pleaded guilty to dangerous driving causing death while intoxicated — an offence carrying a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
Sentencing will take place at a later date.
