Strong Criticism at the UN
Russia’s deputy ambassador to the UN, Dmitry Polyanskiy, has condemned Israel’s reported plan for Gaza City, calling it a “gross violation of international law.”
Speaking at a UN session, Polyanskiy argued that past diplomatic efforts — not intensified military action — had successfully led to the release of more than 140 hostages held by Hamas.
Accusations Against Israel
Polyanskiy accused Israeli authorities of choosing escalation over diplomacy, warning that such a path jeopardises the safety of Israeli hostages still held in Gaza. He went further, accusing Israel of committing crimes against humanity.
“How many more Palestinians need to die before this inhuman slaughter ends?” he asked.
Criticism of the United States
Turning his attention to Washington, Polyanskiy claimed the US was “washing its hands” of the crisis and granting Israel “carte blanche” to act as it sees fit in Gaza.
