Meta Introduces AI-Powered Translations with Realistic Lip-Syncing on Instagram and Facebook

META INTRODUCES AI-POWERED TRANSLATIONS WITH REALISTIC LIP-SYNCING ON INSTAGRAM AND FACEBOOK

Meta has unveiled a groundbreaking AI-powered translation and lip-syncing feature for creators on Instagram and Facebook Reels, allowing videos to be dubbed into multiple languages while maintaining a natural, realistic appearance. Unlike traditional dubbing tools, this new feature preserves the creator’s own voice, tone, and speaking style, ensuring authenticity in every Reel.

How Meta’s AI Lip-Syncing Translations Work

The new AI translation tool automatically dubs Reels into another language and syncs lip movements with precision, offering a seamless viewing experience. Currently, the feature supports English-to-Spanish and Spanish-to-English translations, with more languages set to roll out soon.

On Instagram, the feature is available for all public accounts, while on Facebook, creators need at least 1,000 followers to access it. By default, viewers see Reels in their preferred language settings, though they can turn off translations if desired.

Creator-Friendly Tools in Meta Business Suite

Through the Meta Business Suite, creators gain more control over their content with options to:

  • Upload up to 20 custom audio tracks per Reel
  • Choose between AI-generated dubbing or manual audio uploads
  • Access audience insights by language to track performance across regions

These tools are designed to help creators expand their global reach and tailor content to international audiences.

Best Practices for Using AI Translations

Meta recommends creators produce face-to-camera Reels with clear speech to achieve the best lip-syncing results. Reels with background noise, overlapping voices, or unclear audio may not sync accurately.

Meta’s Recent Upgrades to Reel Production

This update follows Meta’s recent improvements to its Edits app, which now includes:

  • Real-time previews of edits
  • Automatic silence removal for cleaner audio
  • 150+ new fonts for creative text overlays

These upgrades, combined with AI-powered translations, position Meta to compete strongly with other video platforms like TikTok and YouTube Shorts.
