The Board of Management of Postgraduate Medical Institute (PGMI), Ameer-ud-Din Medical College (AMC), and Lahore General Hospital (LGH) has appealed to Chief Minister Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, for the allocation of land to establish a permanent campus for AMC.

Aim to Improve Learning Environment

According to an LGH spokesperson, the initiative seeks to provide medical students with a modern and conducive academic environment. Principal Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal confirmed that the Board has formally submitted a request to the Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department, stressing the urgency for a dedicated facility.

Current Challenges at AMC

Since its establishment in 2012, AMC has been operating within the limited premises of PGMI. The lack of essential infrastructure such as state-of-the-art laboratories, hostels, and lecture halls has hindered academic progress.

Prof. Dr. Afzal added that these shortcomings prevent AMC from meeting the standards of the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC) as well as international accreditation bodies.
